Answering questions
We all have questions that come to us during our life time that may be hard to answer, but all the answers can be found in the scriptures. The Lord provides us these books so that we can learn wisdom in Him and be able to find the answers to our questions if we but search for them. But what are the scriptures exactly? They are the written word of God's prophets that He calls to preach His word to all nations, kindreds, tongues and people. The scriptures are the inspired writings of such men. The Lord reveals His secrets to them and tells them to write it down so that we can learn the secrets as well (Amos 3:7). Jesus told His disciples that it is given to them to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven but the the others would not know (Matt 13:11). If we do not open our ears and open our eyes to the word of God, then we will not hear or see what the scriptures and the Spirit will teach us (Matt 13:13-15). Always read with a question and be searching for ways that you can apply the teachings to your life. God reveals the scriptures to answer the questions of the soul and to teach us what we can do to be happy. He has done this from the beginning and will always do it. He tells us this in 2 Nephi 29:11 "For I command all men, both in the east and in the west, and in the north, and in the south, and in the islands of the sea, that they shall write the words which I speak unto them;" I hope we can all use the scriptures and they were intended to be used and to see them for what they are. Not just as long books with hard words but as precious treasure given from God. I like what 2 Timothy 3:15-17 says.
"15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."
Let us read and pray about he scriptures that we read and seek after the answers hidden inside the words of God.
